CERC is proud to have a long history of publishing books, many of which are recognized as seminal contributions to the field.
Efforts are now being made to clear space in the store room and to expand further the distribution of books to pertinent locations. A starting point has been university libraries in Mainland China, following which the focus will turn to counterpart institutions elsewhere in Asia and beyond.
One recent recipient of a substantial box of books has been Northwest University (NWU) in Xi’an. On 21 May 2025, Professor Mark Bray together with Professor Kenneth King from Edinburgh University (UK), presented a pair of lectures in NWU’s School of Foreign Languages. Professor Bray’s lecture was about the work of UNESCO, drawing partly on a book by Raymond Wanner published by CERC; and Kenneth King focused on methodology in area studies drawing on his own book published by CERC.
NWU warmly welcomed the 45 books, and a group of students helped to carry them to the library where they were received officially.
Readers desiring their own libraries to receive CERC books are invited to contact the CERC Secretary, Mr Xing Shuyu, at xsy19971020@gmail.com. Information on books published to date can be found here.
